UPDATED 1:50 PM PT – Sunday, August 29, 2021

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) said Joe Biden’s mishandling of the Afghan crisis was “much worse than Saigon.” During an interview on Sunday, McConnell said Vietnamese militants did not seek to attack the U.S. after the fall of Saigon in 1975.

However, the senator said Islamic terrorists have been plotting against the U.S. because they have been emboldened and excited by Biden’s weakness. He stressed the Taliban may try and take U.S. hostages, while ISIS could stage terror attacks on U.S. soil.

“This murderous attack offers the clearest possible reminder that terrorists will not stop fighting the United States just because our politicians grow tired of fighting them,” he stated. “I remain concerned that terrorists worldwide will be emboldened by our retreat, by this attack, and by the establishment of a radical Islamic terror state in Afghanistan.”

It is sickening and enraging to hear that at least 12 U.S. servicemembers have been killed at the hands of terrorists in Kabul. We need to redouble our global efforts to confront these barbarian enemies who want to kill Americans and attack our homeland. My full statement: pic.twitter.com/ydke3F6sZ7

McConnell went on to add Biden’s failure in Afghanistan has now sparked fears for the future of America.
