Tens of thousands of people from across the country have flocked to Miami to attend Rolling Loud music festival as this year’s tickets have sold out. The event returns to Florida this weekend after it was cancelled last year due to COVID-19.

“We’re a Miami born and raised company. We started rolling loud here in Miami and we’re happy to put on for the city,” Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif expressed. “Happy to bring people some entertainment, some joy, come together, have a good time. Very excited to do that.”

This weekend, increased traffic is expected throughout Miami Beach as festivalgoers visit our community. The city has prepared a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety and enjoyment of visitors and residents alike.

Concerns of potential crime resurfacing have been sparked due to events at the festival in 2019. Rapper Ameer Golston was killed in a shooting and rapper Kodak Black was arrested before performing.

Despite this, Kodak Black was rumored to return to the lineup this year. Although just days before the festival, performers Fredo Bang and Lit Yoshi were arrested in Miami county as both have been reportedly connected to the murder from Rolling Loud 2019.

Unfortunately, Fredo Bang will not be performing today.

Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber (D) said all hands were on deck as 400 officers were scheduled to work 12 hour shifts all weekend.

“Interestingly our crime rate is not increasing,” he explained. “I still feel like there are parts of the city that are not safe.”

Miami Police Chief Art Acevedo says his officers will be out in full force, especially with the ongoing Cuba related protests.
